Every hay fever sufferer knows how awful it feels when the air is full of pollen. This airborne pollen triggers a range of uncomfortable reactions like itchy eyes, sneezing and headaches. Now, we've found a new way to help reduce pollen at home.
We recently tested our purifying Fragrance Lamps to see what effect they could have against airborne pollen. The tests discovered that using a Fragrance Lamp could help remove up to 90% of pollen from the air in up to 50% less time than when not using a Lamp, creating a purified, less-pollen filled environment for hay fever sufferers.
How did we test our Fragrance Lamps against pollen?
To test our Fragrance Lamps, a SIFT-MS
device was used to measure the particle concentration of ragweed pollen over 60-minutes in a stainless-steel chamber. For the tests effusion vapour from the Fragrance Lamp was introduced into the chamber using a vacuum pump to generate a concentration of approximately 7 parts per million (ppm) of Lamp Fragrance vapour, similar to the concentration found in regular home use. Control trials with no Lamp Fragrance introduced were also measured to accurately compare the effect of the Lamp Fragrance.
Results showed that on average 90% of airborne pollen was removed within 17 mins when Lamp Fragrance vapour was introduced. In comparison, the control tests found it took 38 minutes to remove 90% of pollen without any Lamp Fragrance.
